Royal No Show
THE FELLA was due to compete at Royal Lancs this week. Unfortunately things have conspired against us. We went on holiday three weeks ago. The farrier was supposed to have come the week before, but had to delay it. As we like to be there when THE FELLA is shod we arranged to have them all done the week after we got back.
We got back to three horses with loose shoes, but all still attached.
On Tuesday night THE FELLA shed a shoe. Again our farrier cancelled his visit, and it would be Friday before the farrier could make it. On Thursday I had to remove another of THE FELLAs shoes.
The verdict on Friday was that THE FELLA needed filler before he could be shod, and the farrier wouldn't have any until Tuesday. I arranged to meet him Wednesday. On Wednesday it got delayed again, to Thursday night. On Thursday night THE FELLA was too stressed, and as he needed to be kept still enough to let the epoxy set I arranged to get some Sedalin and then have him shod on Friday. Which as usual, means Saturday.
This left only two days in wihch he could be worked after a three week layoff. Not the best preparation for Royal Lancs, so we scratched.
Still, the extra time between shoeing has allowed the farrier to even out his feet better than normal. He's now back in work, ready for some Summer eventing.
